Supply Chain Manager

Responsibilities
- Lead purchasing efforts with an eye towards forecasting to ensure appropriate commodity pricing is upheld within industry standards
- Know the market well enough to capitalize on trends in raw material costs as macro trends in supplier and contract base are monitored. Implement Proactive plans to engage suppliers.
- Expertise with vendor management and create metrics to properly manage the vendors
- Responsible for price negotiation, identification and source selection as well as contract review
- Develop, advocate and implement sourcing and negotiation strategies for key spend areas to achieve short- and long-term savings targets
- Continually develop personal and team expertise to support growth for new projects
- Build and develop relationships with key suppliers and customers. Manage vendor relationships and assist in building effective partnerships
- Review quotations and Order materials and services per negotiated and appropriately approved contracts.
- Track Purchasing activity and measurements including the maintenance of organized purchasing records.
- Assist department in developing and implementing purchasing strategies for products
- Communicate in a timely manner rapid fluctuation in prices of materials to those affected (Leadership Team, Project Managers, Engineers, etc.)
- Communicate in a timely manner to those affected by delays, changes or other concerns that impact the shop, field, engineering orders or supplies
Tasks:
- Responsible for planning, developing and buying materials, parts, supplies and equipment in a timely and cost-effective way; timely manner while maintaining appropriate quality standards and specifications
- Evaluate requests for purchase of supplies, equipment and services to determine and implement appropriate procurement method
- Update Timberline Estimating program pricing on a monthly/quarterly/semi-annually/annual basis
- Oversee Team Buyers purchases to ensure accountability
- Assist with inputting receiving documentation in Timberline (from Shipping & Receiving)
- Enter daily purchase order/job cost transfers into Timberline
- Assist in the development of bid specifications and standards to ensure the lowest pricing, promote competition and maintain quality
- Provide support to employees regarding requisitions, purchase orders and vendors
- Process requisitions into purchase orders and always follow ethics guidelines
- Follow up/expedite calls on outstanding orders using e-mail confirmation whenever possible
- Oversee the uniform program for union employees (negotiate contract, approve invoices, add/delete employees, etc.)
- Establish and Maintain min/max material levels according to current market and backlog
- Works closely with Receiving department to ensure timing of receiving proper supplies
Education Requirements
REQUIRED EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, related field or equivalent work experience
Experience Requirements
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 5 years purchasing experience in a construction environment
- Experience in procurement of steel and fabrication type products
